The Kitchen and Breakfast Nook
The open kitchen has a breakfast nook with rounded windows and a doorway right outside to the patio. This area is on the southwest corner of the house so it gets sun from midday on. The formal dining room can be seen through the arched doorway.
Appliances in this all-electric kitchen include side-by-side refrigerator and freezer, cook-top on its own island, oven, microwave, and dishwasher. There's also a convenient "appliance garage" so your toaster, coffee maker, and other small appliances are convenient but can be hidden behind a pull-down door when you aren't using them. Countertops and backsplash are laid with 8" ceramic tile.
This kitchen features oak cabinetry. Because the custom builder who built the house for us had been a cabinetmaker, all the cabinetry is beautifully done. There are many pullout shelves, as well as a large pantry (approximately 3 wide by 9 feet ), also with pullout shelves. The pantry is located just as you come in from the garage, so you can put away groceries easily.
The floor is made of 16-inch ceramic tiles, with in-floor radiant heat, very welcome on those brisk winter mornings!
The sink faces out to the breakfast nook and great room, so you can chat with guests or enjoy the views outside.
The lighting in the kitchen is outstanding. Recessed can lights compliment an abundance of natural light. Speakers in the kitchen and breakfast nook have separate volume control, making it easy to adjust for light background music while entertaining or at any time.
We designed this kitchen to be both functional and attractive, and it has proven itself. Whether you whip out gourmet meals or just do the basics, we think you'll find it very convenient.
